Music Theatre AMT 4M1

If you take this course, "AMR4M5 - Repertoire - Music Theatre / Choir
" is strongly recommended

Students will take an active leadership role in the production of a musical or review. While learning a full-scale Broadway production, students will take an holistic approach to the study of music theatre. Each student will have an on-stage role where they will learn voice production, movement and acting. In addition, each student will participate in a production role – set design, scenic painting, prop design, costuming and staging. This course culminates with a final performance in a professional theatre.

Keyboard Music - Experienced AMK 4M1

PREREQUISITE: Grade 11 Music, University/College Preparation or Open
AMK3M1 is strongly recommended for success in this course. Students with no previous piano instruction should enrol in AMK4M6

This course provides students with opportunities to develop their musical literacy through the creation, appreciation, analysis, and performance of music, including traditional, commercial, and art music. Students will apply the creative process when performing appropriate technical exercises and repertoire and will employ the critical analysis processes when reflecting on, responding to, and analysing live and recorded performances. Students will consider the function of music in society and the impact of music on individuals and communities. They will explore how to apply skills developed in music to their life and careers. A challenging keyboard program for students with considerable piano background.

Keyboard Music - Beginner AMK 3M6

CREDIT: 1 TYPE: University/College GRADE: 11
PREREQUISITE: Grade 11 Music, University/College Preparation or Open
Students with a strong interest in this subject may enrol in this course without the stated prerequisite. No previous piano instruction is required.

Music and Computers AMM 4M1

CREDIT: 1 TYPE: University/College GRADE: 12
PREREQUISITE: Grade 11 Music, University/College Preparation or Open
Previous keyboard experience is strongly recommended.

This course is ideal for all interested and aspiring songwriters and sound engineers. Throughout the Music and Computers course you will study the concepts of songwriting, improvisation and creating original musical material using sequencing and recording software. Students will work both independently and collaboratively using current technology and the creative and critical analysis processes. Each person will respond to, reflect on, and analyze music from various genres and periods, and they will develop skills transferable to other aspects of their life and their careers. The course develops each student’s musical understanding and their technical skills. You will develop your compositional and arranging skills through the use of both analog and digital recording tools and technology.
